Privacy Policy

This is the privacy policy for the digitalCORE live session quiz, the game you play on your phone during in-person events such as live workshops, conferences, and team sessions. We wrote it in plain English so you can read it before you sign in. If anything is unclear, email mort@dcx.one.

Who we are

We are digitalCORE, the operator of this quiz. The game runs on a host laptop at the front of the room and on the screen in your hand. There is no third-party game platform involved.

What we collect at signup

• First name
• Last name
• Email address
• Optional role or title (you can skip this)

What we collect during gameplay

• Your answers to true/false, multiple choice, free response, and poll questions.
• Your score per question and your running total.
• Your streak (correct answers in a row).
• The time you signed in.
• A device identifier we generate on your phone so two people cannot sign in as you on different devices.

Cookies we set

We set two first-party cookies. We do not use third-party tracking cookies and we do not load tracking pixels.

• player_id — identifies you to the leaderboard and the live websocket so your answers and points show up under your name.
• device_id — prevents the same email from being used to play on a second device during the session.

Both cookies expire after 7 days.

How we use your data

• To run the live game and keep score.
• To show the leaderboard on the room screen. We display your first name and the first letter of your last name only (e.g. "Alex K.").
• To send you a short welcome email after you sign in.
• To send you a recap email after the session with the resources and the session checklist PDF.

Free-response grading with AI

For free-response questions, your typed answer is sent to Anthropic (Claude) for automated scoring against a question-specific rubric. Only the question, the rubric, and your answer text are sent. Your name, email, and other personal details are not sent with the answer.

Email delivery

Welcome and recap emails are sent through SendGrid, our email delivery provider. SendGrid processes your email address only to deliver these messages.

Data retention

We keep your signup details and answers for the event and for follow-up after the event (so we can send the recap and prize information). You can ask us to delete your data at any time by emailing mort@dcx.one.

What we do not do

• We do not run advertising on this site.
• We do not sell or rent your personal information.
• We do not load third-party tracking pixels or analytics scripts.

Your rights

You can ask us to show you the data we have about you, correct it, or delete it. You can unsubscribe from the recap email by replying to it or by emailing mort@dcx.one. We will respond within a reasonable time.

Children

The game is intended for working professionals attending a live event. It is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
